Creating Bookmarks Using Cut, Copy and Paste

You can use Copy, Cut and Paste to create new bookmarks based on ones that exist in 3DEXPERIENCE and add them to the bookmark structure in the work area.

Important:

You can copy-paste, or cut-paste, or drag-and-drop a bookmark structure or bookmark content while the root bookmark is in the create maturity state.
Copy and Cut are available for both non-root bookmarks, and representations and references.
You can only paste representations and references in the case of non-root bookmarks.
Multi-select is available for Copy and Cut.
You can use Paste only once if it follows Cut.
You can use Paste multiple times if it follows Copy.
In Product Structure Design, before you use Paste on a representation or reference, you must save the changes made to it, otherwise, you will see an error message.
Cut, Copy and Paste can be used within a bookmark structure or between bookmark structures.

Use Copy and Paste

You can copy and paste objects between bookmark structures that have been expanded in the same or different tabs in the work area.

From an expanded bookmark structure or 3D representation, choose the bookmark you want to copy.
Right-click the bookmark and click Copy .
Note:
Note the following:
- Copy is not available for root bookmarks
- The data which is copied is stored in the Clipboard until it is replaced with new copied or cut data.
Browse to the tab containing the expanded destination bookmark structure and choose the bookmark in which you want to paste the copied bookmark.
Right-click the bookmark and click Paste .

A copy of the source bookmark is created inside the destination bookmark along with its complete sub-bookmark structure. The new bookmark points to the same items as the original bookmark. You can see its structure as well as its 3D representation in the work area.

Notes: Note the following:

Copy and Paste can also be accessed in the Edit section of the action bar. You can select the bookmark you want to copy, or the destination bookmark, and click the respective command to perform the action.
The new bookmark and its sub-bookmarks have "Copy of" appended to the beginning of their name. They are named according to the default naming convention to prevent a collision with bookmarks that already exist.
The copied bookmark can be pasted more than once into the same or a different bookmark structure.

Use Cut and Paste

You can cut and paste objects between bookmark structures that have been expanded in the same or different tabs in the work area.

From an expanded bookmark structure or 3D representation, choose the bookmark on which you want to perform the cut-paste operation.
Right-click the bookmark and click Cut .
- Cut is not available for root bookmarks and for any bookmark that is locked.
- The data which is copied is stored in the Clipboard until it is replaced with new copied or cut data.
The bookmark icon is highlighted in gray.
Browse to the tab containing the expanded destination bookmark structure and choose the bookmark in which you want to paste the copied bookmark.

Right-click the bookmark and click Paste

Important:

If a bookmark that is cut in Bookmark and pasted in a structure open in a different app, a copy-paste operation takes place and the cut bookmark's icon remains highlighted in gray.
For the cut-paste operation to work on Bookmark bookmarks containing products, the Access Granter role must be assigned to the governing policies, namely, Policy VPLM_SMB and Policy VPLM_SMB_Definition.

A copy of the source bookmark is created inside the destination bookmark along with its complete sub-bookmark structure. The bookmark that was cut is removed from the bookmark structure. You can see the modified bookmark structure as well as its 3D representation in the work area.

Note: Note the following:

The clipboard is cleared immediately after a cut-paste operation.
The pasted bookmark has the same name as the source bookmark.
Cut and Paste can also be accessed in the Edit section of the action bar. You can select the bookmark you want to copy, or the destination bookmark, and click the respective command to perform the action.

Use Drag-and-Drop to Copy-Paste or Cut-Paste bookmarks

You can use drag-and-drop to perform a copy-paste or cut-paste operation in Bookmark and Product Finder.

From the expanded bookmark structure or 3D representation, select the bookmark you want to paste in a different bookmark structure.
You can do either of the following:
- If you want to perform a copy-paste operation, press the Ctrl key and drag the bookmark you want to copy over the destination bookmark.
- If you want to perform a cut-paste operation, drag the bookmark you want to cut over the destination bookmark.
The mouse pointer will change to when you start dragging the bookmark. If drag-and-drop is not allowed, the mouse pointer will change to .

A copy of the source bookmark is created inside the destination bookmark along with its complete sub-bookmark structure. You can see the modified bookmark structure as well as its 3D representation in the work area.

Note: In the 3D representation of the bookmark structure, you can only use drag-and-drop on bookmarks and objects (representations and references) visible on the turntable.
