Working with the Messages Reporting Window

You can use the Simulation tab in the Messages Reporting window to display errors, warnings, and messages, but also to navigate in the diagram.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: You must launch a virtual execution, to display the Simulation tab in the Messages Reporting window.

Display the Messages Reporting Window

To display the Messages Reporting window, click the Messages Reporting window icon

to the right on your screen.

The Messages Reporting window appears.

Notes:

The window is displayed scrolled to the last reported message, however, if that message is part of a structured message, the top message is always displayed.
You can minimize the Messages Reporting window, if undocked. If minimized, it is represented by the icon on the right side of the screen.
The Messages Reporting window can be compressed/expanded by clicking the arrow to the left in the header of the window.
You cannot close the Messages Reporting window.

Click the message to display detailed information in the lower pane of the Messages Reporting window.

Note: The corresponding node in the tree is highlighted.

You can hide and display columns in the Messages Reporting window.

Right-click any of the column headers and select from the following:

Note: The Show Column command is only visible when a column is hidden.

The display of the columns is updated according to your selection.

You can view or hide the children of a node in the Messages Reporting window.

To expand a "+" node, and display the first level of children, do any of the following:
- Click + next to the node name.
- Double-click the line.
The first level of children of the node is displayed.
To collapse a "-" node, and hide the children, do any of the following:
- Click - next to the node name.
- Double-click the line.
The children of the node are hidden.

You can sort the content in the Messages Reporting alphabetically for each column. The sorting can be ascending or descending.

Click the column header.
An arrow appears in the column header.
The results are now sorted in ascending alphabetical order.
Click the column header again.
The direction of the arrow reverses.
The results are now sorted in descending alphabetical order.

In the Messages Reporting window, you can filter the content by message types.

Click any of the following to hide or display the corresponding message types:

By default, all types are displayed.

You can center the diagram to a model in the message.

Before you begin: The message must contain a model name in the Model column.

To center the diagram to a model in a message, double-click the model in the Model column (or anywhere on that message).

The diagram is centered on the clicked module.

Note: If the line is a node, you collapse or expand the node at the same time.

You can use hyperlinks in a messages to navigate.

Before you begin: The following apply:

The message must contain hyperlinks in the message pane in the lower part of the Messages Reporting window.
You must be in the Simulation mode in the Messages Reporting window.

To navigate using a hyperlink in a message, click the hyperlink in the messages pane.

The following is the result, depending on the target of the hyperlink:

If the target is a model, that model is activated.
If the target is a component or a connector, that component or connector is highlighted in the diagram.

To delete the messages of one tab, click Clear the current tab .
