About the Fallible Reference Editor

The Fallible Reference Editor lets you create fallible references and their failure modes.

A fallible reference is used to define and enable the reuse of a list of failure modes to be applied to the components of your system.

Working with testability, you often refer to lists of symptoms defined outside the app. These reused lists can also be created in the Fallible Reference Editor even if the symptoms are not associated with the components of the system.

Description

The Fallible Reference Editor is an immersive panel, which can be moved, resized, and docked to the widget.

In this editor, the fallible references are represented as trees. A root corresponds to a fallible reference and the children are failure modes.



The fallible references and the symptoms can be organized as follows:

  • Favorites: This node contains all the fallible references previously added to Favorites in Bookmark Editor. For more information, see Social and Collaborative: Structured Collaboration & Collaborative Content: Bookmark Editor for Dashboard: Bookmarks: Mark a Bookmark as a Favorite in the Bookmark Editor User's Guide.
  • Bookmarks: This node contains the loaded fallible references previously added to a bookmark in Bookmark Editor, and which are used in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis as symptoms or as fallible references associated with architecture elements.   • Others: This node contains the fallible references whose failure modes are used in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, but that have not been added to Favorites or Bookmarks in Bookmark Editor.

Drag-and-drop Actions

You can associate fallible references with other elements.

Actions in the App

  • Failure modes inserted in the Fallible Reference Editor can be dragged into table cells expecting failure modes or symptoms.
  • Failure modes associated with a fallible reference can be moved to another fallible reference by pressing Ctrl and dragging the failure modes onto another fallible reference.
    Note: You can only move a failure mode, if it is not referenced in any FMEA table.

Actions between Apps

  • Drag a fallible reference from any external widget (for example, the 3DSearch) into the Fallible Reference Editor. It can, for example, appears in the Bookmarks node, if it has been previously bookmarked.
  • Drag a fallible reference or a failure mode from the Fallible Reference Editor and drop it into another widget, for example, Bookmark Editor.
