Edit Causes for DFMEA
You can edit the causes for a Design FMEA.
In the following scenario, the system corresponds to a logical system. The behavior is the same for other systems.
-
To edit a cause, click a failure cause cell.
The corresponding elements are displayed as follows:
- A tree per logical component that is a descendant of the system analyzed by the current FMEA.
- As children of components, the functions implemented by these components in the context of the parent system.
- As children of functions or components, the associated failure modes already defined for each logical component or function.
-
To define a failure cause, from the trees, you can either:
- Select an existing failure mode or any other RAMS analysis.
- Select a logical component or its function, and then enter
a name to create a new failure mode.
Note: If you select Confirm failure mode creation in the widget preferences, the Create Failure Mode for xxx dialog box enables you to:
- Enter the failure mode name.
- Select a customized type, if any.
A new failure mode is created and associated with the logical component or function implemented in context by the logical component. The failure mode and its architectural context appear in a tile in the cell. - Optional: To edit several causes for a function, create another causality relationship with the same function and the same failure mode, and then repeat steps 1 and 2.
