Earth Materials and Volumes

Earth Materials and Volumes is a native app that interconnects Earth Engineering, Geosciences, and Resource Management disciplines. You can use Earth Materials and Volumes to perform accurate volumes calculations and generate earth material reports for mining operations and civil engineering excavations.

Earth Materials and Volumes participates in the civil engineering suite of apps. Complementary functions for Earth Materials and Volumes are available in Earth Engineering, Building and Civil Assemblies, and Terrain Preparation apps. Dedicated to mine geologists, resource geologists, geotechnical engineers, mining engineers, surveyors, and civil engineers who serve in the infrastructure sector, Earth Materials and Volumes enables to:

  • Import geoscience data or models, such as, block model files and geophysics data.
  • Visualize and filter large volumes of STPM data, including regular block models.
    • Color areas of interest within block models.
    • Filter block models on spatial objects and by attribute values.
  • Perform volume and mass calculations between series of surfaces.
  • Perform volume and mass calculation for resource models.
  • Report materials for resource models.
  • Report resource and reserves
  • Classify resources.
  • Visualize and review the calculated zone in the 3D area.

Earth Materials and Volumes involves defining what type of geoscience data to ingest in 3DEXPERIENCE and how to assemble and structure your geoscience content under the product structure common for multidiscipline engineering. Earth Materials and Volumes supports additional formats for geoscience data:

  • csv: for regularized grade model—regular block models (sample data) as input.
  • Tif: for geophysical data collected on site during exploration phase as input. For example, they can result from conductivity and gradiometry measures.

Before you begin using Earth Materials and Volumes, you must have the geoscience data prepared for import. Previously create the geoscience model—including regular block models (sample data)— in another dedicated app.

You can use Earth Materials and Volumes app along with other apps. For example, these can be part of the production resource modeling, geodata production, short-term resource modeling, and short-term production modeling.

Earth Materials and Volumes supports geolocation. For more information, see Understanding Geolocation.
