Creating a Ramp

You can create a ramp in a pit phase according to the ramp parameters you previously specified using Pit Parameters. Ramp parameters consist of the ramp rate, the ramp width, and the minimum radius values.

Before you begin:
  • Adjust the design range and magnitude preference options. See Customizing Preferences.
  • Adjust the contours color preferences. See Toe and Crest Colors.
  • Import Earth Engineering files in an open site or create a site product that contains a terrain and Earth Engineering data.
  • Create a Mine Surface object in the site product. See Creating a Site for Mine 3D Design.
  • Specify the ramp parameters in the Ramp Parameters section of the Pit Parameters dialog box.

About Ramps and Haulage Roads
  1. From the Surface Mine section of the action bar, click Ramp .
  2. In the tree or in the work area, select the bottom bench for the ramp start.
  3. In the Ramp dialog box, specify the bottom entry point:
    • Selecting an existing point.
    • Creating a point on the fly using the Insert WireFrame context menu.
  4. From the Orientation options, adjust the ramp direction select clockwise or counterclockwise.
  5. From the Design options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Outside profile Creates the ramp from the outer profile of the toe (bottom up contour pattern) or from the crest (top- down contour pattern).
Inside profile Creates the ramp from the inner profile of the toe (bottom up contour pattern) or crest (top- down contour pattern).
  6. Select the exit bench materializing the ramp end.
  7. Optional: Determine which benches to assign switchbacks.

The ramp and the switchbacks are identified in the tree under the 3D shape representation.

  • Ramp represents the complete ramp constituted by the ramp segments and the switchbacks. The ramp is located under the pit phase.
  • The ramp segment represents the portion of a ramp located at a given bench.
  • Created along with the ramp, ramp segments appear under the benches, which are located between the bottom and top selected benches.
  • Switchbacks are located under their respective bench nodes.
