Creating and Viewing Geoscience Reference Data

You can create and view Geoscience reference data (attributes, interpretations, and measurements) that are available in apps. When you import data, Geoscience Interpretation uses attributes and further references the data in the Geoscience Interpretation and Geology Modeling apps. Interpretations and measurements are used in compositing within the Geoscience Interpretation app.

  • You must have the Collaborative Business Innovator, Collaborative Industry Innovator, and Geology Modeler roles.

Create Geoscience Attributes

You can use a Geoscience Attribute to save values from a borehole data. Other processes can also reference the attribute. The values in the attribute can be numerical or categorical.

  1. From the Boreholes section of the action bar, click Geoscience Reference Data.
  2. On the Attributes tab of the Geoscience Reference Data form, view the attributes that have already been created.

    You can use two options for display properties.

    • Click the icon to use the Tiles mode.

      Each attribute is displayed in a separate tile.

    • Click the icon to use the List mode.

      A table with three columns is displayed: Attribute, Description, and Action.

  3. Click the add icon to add an attribute.
  4. On the Create Attribute dialog box, enter the name of the attribute in the Name field.

    Note: The name of the attribute must be unique.

  5. Click OK.
    The attribute is added and displayed on the Attributes tab.
  6. Optional: On the Attributes tab, click the attribute.
    The ID and the name of the attribute is displayed on the right pane.

The attribute is added and displayed using the properties that you have entered on the Attributes tab.

Create Geoscience Interpretations

The interpretations value contains details of the compositing operations.

  1. From the Boreholes section of the action bar, click Geoscience Reference Data.
  2. On the Interpretations tab of the Geoscience Reference Data form, view the attributes that have already been created.
  3. Click the add icon to add an interpretation.
  4. On the Create Interpretation dialog box, enter the name of the interpretation in the Name field.
  5. In the Description field, enter the description of the interpretation.
  6. From the Data Type list, select the data type of the interpretation.
    • Numerical
    • Categorical
  7. In the Method field, enter the method used to generate the interpretation.
  8. In the Source Name field, enter the description of the origin of the data.
  9. In the Unit field, enter the unit type of the data.

The interpretation is added and displayed using the properties that you have entered on the Interpretations tab.

Create Geoscience Measurements

Geoscience measurements are values that are derived from observation, a direct or a known process.

  1. From the Boreholes section of the action bar, click Geoscience Reference Data.
  2. On the Measurements tab of the Geoscience Reference Data form, view the attributes that have already been created.

    You can use two options for display properties.

    • Click the icon to use the Tiles mode.

      Each attribute is displayed in a separate tile.

    • Click the icon to use the List mode.

      A table with three columns is displayed: Measurements, Description, and Action.

  3. Click the add icon to add a measurement.
  4. On the Create Measurement dialog box, enter the name of the measurement in the Name field.
  5. From the Data Type list, select the data type of the measurement.
    • Numerical
    • Categorical
  6. In the Source Name field, enter the description of the origin of the data.
  7. In the Technique field, enter the technique used for the measurement (such as, Drill, Blast, and so on).
  8. In the Unit field, enter the unit type of the data (such as, feet, meters, and so on).
  9. Click OK.
    The attribute is added and displayed on the Measurements tab.
  10. Optional: On the Measurements tab, click the measurement.
    The ID and the name of the measurement is displayed on the right pane.

The measurement is added and displayed using the properties that you have entered on the Measurements tab.
