Creating Constraints Between 2D and Generated Elements

You can create associative constraints between 2D elements and generated elements (Generative Drafting app).

Before you begin:
  • Create or open a drawing representation with a view containing geometry.
  • From the Sketch section of the action bar, select Create Detected Constraints .
  • From the View section of the action bar, select Show Constraints .

  1. Create a line.
  2. Select this line.
  3. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Geometrical Constraint .

    Based on the element you selected, the most logical constraint type is displayed (if you want to apply this constraint, click in the drawing to validate).



    Select a generated edge from the drawing you have opened.



    The software offers to create a parallelism constraint by default. If you want to apply this constraint, click in the drawing.

  4. Right-click in the sheet and select Perpendicularity.
    Note:

    A constraint is created between the generated element and the 2D element. However, note that, no constraints can be created between 2D and generated elements when:

    • The front view of the 3D revolution surface is not perfectly positioned as in the example below:




    • The 3D surface is not a regular one as in the example below:




    • An interactive 2D line cannot be constrained with extremities or midpoints of any generated line element, except with generated curves.

    • The view containing the geometries is not up-to-date.

    Tip: You can delete this constraint by right-clicking the constraint and selecting Delete.
    Important: It is impossible to create constraints between 2D and generated elements in the Constraint Definition dialog box. In this dialog box, you can only create constraints between 2D elements. Generated elements or a mix of 2D and generated elements cannot be constrained.
