Drafting a Subdivision Surface

You can define a draft angle on a subdivision surface.

Before you begin: Create a subdivision surface containing at least one free border.
  1. From the Shape Sculpt section of the action bar, click Draft .
  2. Select the surface containing the free border as the neutral element.

The neutral element is the fixed element.

A slider appears at the right of the screen to let you define the draft angle between 1 and 5.
  3. Drag the slider to the desired angle.
    The surface is modified accordingly:

    See About the Slider.

  4. Optional: From the Tools Palette, click Edition to define the draft angle using a dialog box.
  5. Click Apply (Enter) .

    Important:
    • The draft direction is computed by default.
    • If the current angle is bigger than the draft angle, all vertices are modified.
    • If there are two or more free borders, you have to first choose the reference border (the parting element) to compute the angle.
    • This command works along with FreeStyle Shape Design analyses. See Shape Operations.
