What's New

This section describes recent changes in Mechanical Systems Design.

R2022x GA

Visualizing Topology Map Elements

You can now visualize the mechanism elements using a grid layout, a spring layout, or a reference layout. The topology map is also updated whenever an element is added to or removed from the mechanism.

Benefits: The selection of a layout increases the readability of the topology map with a clear visualization of the machine elements. The automatic update of the topology map also improves the definition process of a mechanism and of its elements.
For more information, see Using a Topology Map

Using Polyhedral Geometries

You can now apply commands on polyhedral objects, or use polyhedral geometry as inputs.
Benefits: The app is more efficient and robust.
For more information, see Polyhedral Geometry in Mechanical Systems Design

Accessing the New Engineering Connection Definition Dialog Box

The structure of the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box has been modified, with a new presentation of the engineering connection options.
Benefits: The navigation inside the dialog box is more immersive, and the creation or modification of engineering connections is facilitated.
For more information, see About the Engineering Connection Definition Dialog Box About Engineering Connection Options

Managing the Orientation of Commands

You can now display the orientation of mechanism commands to visualize the relative motion of a product with respect to another.

Benefits: The visualization of the orientation lets you preview the motion of the commands from the current mechanism before the simulation of the mechanism.
