Editing Pathway Section and Properties

This section describes how to modify the section and properties of a pathway.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  1. Create a pathway.
  2. Select the pathway. A context toolbar is displayed.
  3. In the context toolbar click Edit Pathway . The existing points on the pathway are highlighted.



Note: To undo a command at any time, click Undo . The last action will be reversed.

Modify the Section of a Pathway

This section describes how to change the section and properties of a pathway or segment.

  1. To modify the pathway, click anywhere on the pathway; to modify a segment, click the segment.
    A context toolbar appears.
  2. In the context toolbar, select what you want to modify:
    • Segment Modification
    • Pathway Modification
    A context toolbar appears.
  3. To change the section to circular and set the diameter, select Edit Circular Section :
    1. Drag the section manipulator to the required diameter.

    2. When finished, click anywhere in the work area.
  4. To change the section to rectangular and set the dimensions, select Edit Rectangular Section :
    1. Drag the section manipulator to the required dimensions.

    2. When finished, click anywhere in the work area.
    Note:

    If the section size is too small to be edited with a manipulator, dialog boxes appear to allow you to change the diameter, the height and the width.

Modify the Properties of a Pathway

This section describes how to change the Bend Radius Ratio, Discipline, Segregation and Curve Build Method of a pathway or segment.

  1. To modify the pathway, click anywhere on the pathway; to modify a segment, click the segment.
    A context toolbar appears.
  2. In the context toolbar, select what you want to modify:
    • Segment Modification
    • Pathway Modification.
    A context toolbar appears.
  3. In the context toolbar, click Edit Properties
    The Properties dialog box appears.
  4. Enter new values for Bend Radius Ratio, Discipline, Segregation and Curve Build Method

    Notes:
    • Curve Build Method cannot be changed if you selected a segment; it can only be changed if you selected the pathway.
    • If the amended values cannot be used to compute a new curve for the pathway, an error message will be displayed. To correct the problem, modify the passing points, section dimension or bend radius ratio.

  5. When finished, click anywhere in the work area.
