Changing Maturity

You can define the maturity state of objects as they evolve throughout their lifecycle.

When you select several objects, if the operation fails for one or several of them (for example, if the object has been modified or reserved by someone else after you clicked the command), no transitions are processed.

When the Change Maturity command is launched from the Save dialog box, the maturity modifications are saved, even if the action of the save command has been canceled or failed.

Required access roles: Reader, Contributor, Author, Leader, Owner. For more information, see Collaborative Lifecycle Access to Content.

This task shows you how to:

Change the Maturity State of Objects Based on Instance-Reference Model

This procedure describes how to change the maturity of all object types based on the instance-reference model (for example, physical products).

Note: If objects that are not based on the instance-reference model (for example, documents, bookmarks, or requirement specifications) are selected with other objects, they are excluded from the scope of the operation.

For more information about the instance-reference model, see PLM Components User's Guide: Basic PLM Objects.

  1. Select one or several objects.
  2. From the Lifecycle section of the action bar, click Maturity .
    The Maturity dialog box appears

    Notes:
    • Aggregated representations are automatically added just after their corresponding part, even if the aggregated representations are not opened in the Authoring session. By default, the chosen transition is applied to them.

When you select a 3D part, the 3D representation of this 3D part is not displayed in the dialog box but the new maturity state also applies to this representation.

    • If you selected an object with unsaved child connections (added or removed children), a message appears to warn you that changing the maturity state of the object might prevent you from saving these child connections afterward.

For example, if you promote the object to Frozen, you will not be able to save the child connections. You will need to demote the maturity state of the object to In Work to be able to save them.

This message only appears if you selected an object type that follows the instance-reference model. For more information, see PLM Components User's Guide: Basic PLM Components.

  3. In the Choose Transition list, select the appropriate transition.

The Choose Transition box provides the list of valid transitions from the current maturity state of the object. Therefore, if you are in the initial state, there could be only one option available that allows you to change the maturity state.

For each object, an icon indicates if the transition can be applied to the object:

    • Applicable Transition
    • Not Applicable Transition

  4. To exclude an object and not apply the maturity transition to it, double-click the corresponding Applicable Transition icon .
The icon changes to (Not Applied Transition) and the object's maturity state is not modified when the transition is applied.
  5. Click OK to apply the transition.
A message appears at the upper-right corner indicating that the command completed successfully. The maturity state is updated for all objects with the Applicable Transition icon.

Change the Maturity State of Objects Not Based on the Instance-Reference Model

This procedure describes how to change the maturity of object types that are not based on the instance-reference model (for example, documents, bookmarks, or requirement specifications).

For more information about the instance-reference model, see PLM Components User's Guide: Basic PLM Objects.

  1. Select one or several objects, and from the Lifecycle section of the action bar click Maturity .

The Maturity dialog box appears. If you selected one object, it displays the maturity graph. If you selected several objects, it displays the list of selected objects.

  2. To select a new maturity state, do one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    You selected one object

In the maturity graph, click the name of the transition, or the transition arrow ( or ) of your choice.

Note: The maturity graph only indicates the maturity states available for the object.
    ua

    You selected several objects
    1. From the list of maturity states, select the new maturity state of your choice.

For each object, an icon indicates if the transition can be applied to the object:

      • Applicable Transition
      • Not Applicable Transition

    2. Optional: To exclude an object and not apply the maturity transition to it, double-click the corresponding Applicable Transition icon.

The icon changes to (Not Applied Transition) and the object's maturity state is not modified when the transition is applied.

The maturity state of the objects is modified.

If you selected large data and the operation requires a prolonged amount of time to complete, a message appears. The operation continues in the background, and a notification appears in the 3DNotification Center when it is completed, if Collaborative Lifecycle notifications are activated. For more information, see Customizing 3DNotifications.
