Exploding a 2D component means removing the link between a 2D component instance and its reference. The associativity with the detail sheet is cut. Then, you can modify the exploded 2D component instance as desired.
When you explode a 2D component, there is no more associativity
with the detail sheet and the exploded component behaves as an independent
geometry.
After an explode, all dress-up elements added on the instance are deleted, texts lose their
associativity with the detail sheet and dimensions turn to fuchsia by default
(or according to the color defined for Dimensions for which last
update failed in the Elements' analysis
dialog box available via Me
> Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting > Display expander, and click Configure. For more
information, see Display tab.
When you instantiate a 2D component, made of 2D components and perform
an explode, all the components behave as independent geometries and
not as instances anymore.
When you explode a 2D component, the default visual results are maintained.
For example, Font Size modification to compensate the specified scale on 2D component instance.
Tip:
When instantiating
a 2D component, you can define its type as an exploded one. For
this, use Explode from the Tools Palette, as explained
in the Instantiating a 2D Component.
