Saving Materials

You can save materials in the database.

Note: Materials loaded in session remain in session even after closing editors. Any unsaved modifications persist when you reopen the material or structure from the database. You can remove the materials in session by unpinning them in the Material Browser.


Before you begin:
  • You can only save editable materials.

    To enable editability, select Control content privileges (Restart the session to take the change into account) in Me > Preferences > Legacy Preferences > Content Access > Open.

The following editing choices are available:

  • Forbid the editing of read-only content and temporarily lock the read-write content.
  • Authorize the editing of read-only content with a warning and temporarily lock the read-write content.
  • Authorize the editing of read-only content with a warning.
Note: You can only save applied materials.

Editability for Materials
  1. In the Top Bar, select one of the following commands: Share > Save > Save with Options.

    In Material Definition, all open material appears in the Save with Options dialog box.

    In other apps, reference products and the materials applied to these reference products appear in the Save with Options dialog box.

    The app identifies newly assigned materials with a blue symbol and identifies the applied materials affected by newly assigned materials with a yellow symbol.

  2. To display all the aggregated objects of a reference in the Save with Options dialog box, select the reference in the Display Name column and then click Zoom In .
    Tip: To customize the columns and object types displayed in the Save with Options dialog box, select Me > Preferences > Content Access > Save and configure the Save Dialog Box options.
  3. Click OK.
