Setting Manufacturing Assembly Attributes

You can define the Make or Buy attribute on manufacturing assemblies and sub-assemblies.


Before you begin: Add a non-empty product structure as input.

Editing Manufacturing Assemblies
  1. Open your product data and start Assembly Definition.
    The root manufacturing assembly appears at the center of a turntable.

  2. Double-click the assembly to expand it.
    The manufacturing assemblies appear on the turntable.
    Note: You can hover over the assemblies to display the datatip attributes.


  3. Select Make or Buy Decision from the B. I. Essentials panel.
    The assemblies are colored according to their Make/Buy/Unassigned status:
    • Green for Buy
    • Red for Make
    • Blue for Unassigned.


  4. Select an assembly whose status you want to change.

    A context toolbarappears prompting you to change the status to Make.

  5. Select the Make option in the context toolbar.

    The assembly status changes from Buy to Make (its color changes from green to red).

  6. Expand the red assembly to display its sub-assemblies and parts on a secondary turntable.
    The objects display with the Buy status (their color is green).

    You can continue to modify other objects of the manufacturing assembly in the same way.
