Switching to Alternate Part/ Manufacturing Substitute in MBOM

You can select a manufacturing substitute or alternate part in place of a primary engineering part in an MBOM or remove the selection of an already selected substitute part or alternate part, connecting the primary part or any other assigned manufacturing substitute.

Before you begin: Access a part Bill of Materials page in MBOM Plant-Specific or EBOM Common View.

About Part Bill of Materials - MBOM Plant-Specific View
  1. From the page toolbar, click Edit All.
  2. Click in the Switch column for the MBOM connection that needs to be switched.
  3. The Switch to Part page opens as a slide-in.

    The form displays:

    • All assigned manufacturing substitutes or alternate parts that are not already selected in the MBOM connection
    • If an alternate or a manufacturing substitute part has been already selected, an option to switch back to the primary part

  4. Select any one of the parts and click Submit.

The MBOM page is redisplayed showing the selected part in the MBOM connection. The Selected column shows “Substitute” for manufacturing substitutes or “Alternate” for alternate parts.

If a switch on a substitute part is clicked, the Select Manufacturing Substitute page shows other substitutes for the selected find number and also an option to switch back to the primary part.
