Using a Polyline, Spline or Sketch as Input for Runner

You can create a Runner from a polyline, a spline, or a sketch.

When using a sketch:

  • The sketch may be made of several branches, connected or not.
  • The sketch used to create a Runner can have an Injection Point as input.
  • Only the standard lines of the sketch are taken into account (points and constructions lines are not).
  • An extract is made from each element of the sketch. A Runner curve is created for each extracted element.
  • Even if the sketch is made of one profile (lines and arcs), the result is not one but several Runner curves, one for each line or arc.
  • Dimension and position modifications of the sketch lines are fully associative and supported by Conformal Cooling Circuit (no need to run the command to update the output).
  • Runner must be restarted if lines are added to or suppressed from the sketch.

  1. Create a polyline or select an existing polyline, spline, or sketch.
  2. Click to create a Runner.
    • The required extracts are made. They are stored under the Flow Input Body and are used to compute the Runner curves.
    • The Runner is visualized.
    • The context toolbar proposes only relevant commands. Depending on the selection, do one of the following.
  3. Specify the edition mode.
    • applies changes to the current Runner.
    • applies changes to all Runners.
    • applies changes to the current polyline.
  4. Select a profile on the context toolbar or the dialog box.
    • creates an Runner with a circular profile.
    • creates Runner with an oval profile.
The preview of the Runner and the dialog box are updated accordingly.
  5. Decide on what side the Runner will be machined. Click:
    • to select the Injection Side
    • to select the Ejection Side
    • to select both the Injection Side and the Ejection Side.
  6. Decide where the Runner is created. Click:
    • to create an Runner directly from a selected polyline.
    • to create the Runner from the projection of the selected curve on the Cavity Surface or the Core Surface.
      Notes:
      • is available only if a surface named Cavity Surface or Core Surface exists.
      • When you click , the Cavity Surface is automatically selected, if it exists. Otherwise, Core Surface is selected.
    • to create the Runner from the projection of the selected curve on a selected surface.
  7. For an open polyline, add grooves on the Runner ends. Click:
    • if you do not want to add grooves.
    • to add grooves to both ends.
    • or to add grooves to the corresponding end.

The Runner and Gates (if relevant) are created.
