Copying a Model Version

You can use the Copy Selected or Copy actions to copy structure definitions from a source model version to a target model version. These actions do not create a new model version; they only copy the source model version's details to the selected target model version. You can only copy one model version at a time. The copied (target) model version includes the following structures of the source model version:

  • Top-level features of the source model version
  • Child features of the source model version
  • Compatibility and marketing preference rules of the source model version
  • Parts defined at the model version level
  • All related specifications

The target model version does not include the following structures of the source model version:

  • Builds
  • Revisions
  • Derivations or branches
  • Expression and matrix rules of the source model version
  • Routes
  • Issues
Note: If you manually add a variant, option group, variant value, or option to a model version and then add it as a design variant to a logical feature, that variant, option group, variant value, or option is retained in the model version context even if the design variant is removed.
