Filtering Structure

You can define and apply a configuration filter to refine the structure of the system to be analyzed. At least one configuration model must be attached to the root of the structure.

The object for which you want to define a configuration filter must have a configuration context associated with it.

Required roles: If you have the Collaborative Innovator license role, you can use Collaborative Lifecycle. If you have the Product Manager license role, you can use Model Definition.

Before you begin:
  • From Model Definition, create a model revision (configuration model), associated variants, options, and attached values. Create new revisions of the model.
  • From Collaborative Lifecycle, open the lifecycle of variants and change the maturity state from Preliminary to Active. For more information, see Social and Collaborative: Product Portfolio Planning: Model Definition: Content Lifecycles: Perpetual Resource Lifecycle.
  • From Model Definition, create one or more product configurations for the model version and its revisions, to be used to filter the system. Select values for the variants of the product configurations.

Advanced Filtering
  1. In the Structure Tree, select the root element of the structure and click Edit Configuration Context from the Configuration section of the action bar.
  2. To apply a configuration to the selected element, select a configuration model, in the dialog box that appears.

    For more information, see Editing the Configuration Context.

  3. To apply variant and option effectivities to all elements to be configured:
    1. In the Structure Tree, select a direct child element under the root element.
    2. From the Configuration section of the action bar, click Edit Variants and Options .
    3. In the dialog box that appears, select the variants, and then the options.

      For more information, see Editing Variant/Option Effectivity.

      A new configuration expression appears in the Variant/Option Expression field.
  4. To apply evolution effectivities to all the elements to be configured:
    1. In the Structure Tree, select a direct child element under the root element.
    2. From the Configuration section of the action bar, click Edit Evolution .
    3. In the dialog box that appears, select the model version.

      A new configuration expression appears in the Expression field.
  5. To filter on a configuration filter:
    1. From the Configuration section of the action bar, click Filter .
    2. In the Filter specification panel, click Configuration, select a model version, evolutions, variants, and options.
    3. Click Apply.

    In the Structure Tree:

    • The icon appears on the structure root icon to indicate that the structure displayed below is filtered.
    • The elements, which do not fit the selected configuration, disappear.

    The causality relationships that contain elements not matching the selected configuration, disappear from the PRA table.

  6. Optional: To cancel the filtering, click Clear all active Tags in the Selected Filters panel.
