Working with 2D Documents

This task describes how to explore 2D documents and drawings. It also describes how to manipulate 2D documents.

This task shows you how to:

Explore a 2D Document

The Explore command enables you to open an 2D document in a new Navigation app.

In a Search Results, in the tree or in the 3D, right-click a 2D document and select Explore.
A new Navigation app tab is opened containing the selected 2D document as root.
Tip: For a list of supported 2D document formats, see About Vector and Raster Formats.
Important: If a minor revision is already explored and you explore another minor revision, this other minor revision will not be explored.

Explore a Drawing

The Explore command enables you to open Drawings.

  1. In a Search Results, in the tree or in the 3D, right-click a Drawing and select Explore.
    The selected Drawing is displayed.
  2. To manipulate a Drawing, see Manipulate 2D Documents.

Important:
  • Drawings must have been saved in R2012 or later.
  • Only one Drawing can be visualized per Scene tab.
  • Measures that you create in a Scene tab are not persistent (in Live Validation, measures are persistent).
  • If you have installed Live Validation, then you will also have review capabilities.

Manipulate 2D Documents

The following describes how to manipulate mono-sheet 2D documents.

Swap Sheets in Multi-sheet 2D Documents

The following describes how to swap multi-sheet 2D documents.

  1. Click the thumbnail of a sheet.
    The selected sheet is displayed.
  2. Click to display the tree view.
  3. Click to display the sheet view.
