Running the Requirement-Feature Traceability Reports

The Requirement-Feature traceability reports display a fulfillment picture of requirements with respect to product features. You can run these reports from a requirement, a specification, or a specification list.

Required responsibilities:

  • Baseline: Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state) or Author

This task shows you how to:

Run the Requirement-Feature with Mutually Linked Products Report

Run the report to display requirements and their associated features and the common products to which they are both linked.

  1. Access the Requirement-Feature traceability reports by doing one of the following:
    • To access the reports from the specifications or requirements lists:
      1. Select the specification or requirement in the list.
      2. From the Actions menu, select Traceability Report > Req-Feature.
    • To access the reports from a specification or requirement:
      1. View the requirement or specification from which you want to run the report. See Opening a Requirement or Opening a Specification.
      2. From the navigation pane, select Traceability.
      3. Select the Req-Feature page tab.
  2. In the Req-Feature page tab, select Requirement-Feature with mutually linked Products.

    The Requirement-Feature with mutually linked Products report contains the following information:

    Column NameDescription
    Requirements
    Requirement NameThe name of the requirement. Click the name to view the requirement's properties.
    TitleThe descriptive identifier for the requirement.
    RevThe revision identifier for the requirement.
    StateThe lifecycle status of the requirement, indicated by color and these states:
    • Red indicates Propose, Approve, or Validate.
    • Yellow indicates Review.
    • Green indicates Release.
    Common ProductsThe name and revision of the common product connected to both the requirement and the feature. Click the name to view the properties of the common product.
    Satisfied By
    Feature NameThe name of the feature. Click the name to view the feature's properties.
    TypeThe type of feature.
    RevThe revision identifier for the feature.
    StateThe lifecycle status of the feature, indicated by color and state:
    • Red indicates Preliminary, Product Management, or Design Engineering.
    • Yellow indicates Review.
    • Green indicates Release.

Run the Requirement-Feature Product Links Report

Run the report to display the requirements and all associated products, and features associated with the requirement and all products that are linked to those features.

  1. Access the Requirement-Feature traceability reports by doing one of the following:
    • To access the reports from the specifications list:
      1. Select the specification.
      2. From the Actions menu, select Traceability Report > Req-Feature.
    • To access the reports from a specification or requirement:
      1. View the requirement or specification from which you want to run the report. See Opening a Requirement or Opening a Specification.
      2. From the navigation pane, select Traceability.
      3. Select the Req-Feature page tab.
  2. In the Req-Feature page tab, do one of the following depending on the context in which you are accessing the report:
    • If you accessed the report from the specifications list or a specification, select Requirement-Feature Product Links.
    • If you accessed the report from a requirement, select Requirement-Feature with all linked Products.

    The report contains the following information:

    Requirement NameThe name of the requirement. Click the name to view the requirement's properties.
