Managing Symbols in a Symbol Representation

A function/logical component contains only one symbol representation. A symbol representation contains one or more symbols.

If alternative representations have been created, they can be selected.

In such case, you can define the symbol to be used for the next insertion in diagram view.

You can also modify the symbol display for inserted symbols (in the context of the active view). Modifying the symbol modifying the reference.

About Diagram View and Symbols
  1. Right-click a function/logical component with symbol representation and select Manage Symbols in the context menu.
    The Symbols Management dialog box opens and displays a preview of the symbols.
  2. From this dialog box, you can enter Symbol Design to:

    Note: These commands and the option to define the default symbol can be hidden if Hide is selected in Manage Options in the Symbol Management Panel section of the Preferences. For more information, see Me > Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Functional and Logical Design > Diagram View.

  3. To modify the symbol display for next insertion in diagram view, select another symbol using the check box .
  4. To modify the display for symbols that are already inserted in the active diagram view:
    1. Re-open the Symbols Management dialog box.

      Note: The symbol reference displayed in Symbols Management panel can differ from the instantiated symbol instance, due to a defined business rules.

    2. Select Replace Inserted Symbol .

      The symbols are replaced.
