Running an Impact Analysis

You can run an Impact Analysis report from a defect or defect action to see the impact of that defect against all model versions. You can run an impact analysis for a defect action only if it has a committed model version or candidate model.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: None

Defect Impact Analysis Report
  1. From the toolbar, select Actions > Impact Analysis.
    The Impact Analysis report opens in a new window.
  2. From the Mode menu, select the structure in which you want to view the model version revisions affected by the defect or defect action:
    • Select Hierarchical to see the affected model version revisions in a hierarchical tree structure, with expandable nodes.
    • Select Summary to see the affected model version revisions in a flat structure, with no expandable nodes.
    The report displays the information in the selected view structure.
  3. From the toolbar, click View to filter the page based on the scope of defect's impact:
    • Select Direct to show the model version hierarchy of only the model version revisions against which the defect was reported or against which the defect action is committed.
    • Select Full to show the model version hierarchy of all revisions and derivations that may be affected by the defect, starting from either the revision against which the defect was reported or against which the defect action is committed.
    The report filters to show the selected scope of the defect impact.

The Impact Analysis report displays the defect impact information for affected model version revisions based on the selected impact scope and mode.
