Aligning or Copying Dispositions Between Model Version Revisions

After comparing the defect disposition statuses of two model version revisions, if the shared affecting defects have a disposition for one model version revision, but not for the other, you can either align or copy a disposition from the one that has one to the one that does not. This eliminates the need to manually create a new disposition for a model version revision that does not have one for a shared affecting defect.

About Dispositions
  1. Select the two model version revisions that are affected by one or more of the same defects through their model version hierarchy.
  2. From the page toolbar, select Actions > Compare/Align Dispositions .
The Compare/Align Dispositions page opens in a new window. If the shared affecting defects have a disposition for one of the model version revisions, but not the other, the dispositions can be aligned or copied between the two revisions. See Aligning or Copying a Defect Disposition Between Model Version Revisions.
  3. Indicate how you want to relate the existing defect disposition to the model version revision that does not have one:
    • Click Align to align the disposition.

The disposition is linked to the same defect and defect action in both model version revisions, using the same disposition name.

    • Click Copy to copy the disposition's information to a new disposition that will share the disposition's type and title, but will be automatically given a new name when it is created.

The new disposition is linked to the same defect as the original disposition, but it is not linked to the defect action that was associated with that disposition.

Tip: You can copy a disposition then edit the information for the new disposition, including linking it to a defect action, to accurately reflect how the defect is being disposed of in the associated model version revision. This may be quicker than creating a disposition from scratch if the two dispositions share any of the same information.

The shared affecting defect now has a disposition for both model version revisions. The model version revisions share the same disposition if the dispositions were aligned. If the disposition was copied from one model version revision to the other, the model version revisions have different dispositions, but the dispositions have the same disposition type, title, and description.
