Columns

Column NameDescription
RevThe revision of the model version.
Derivation CueShows for branches. This column is blank for revisions and the root model version.
Latest Cue

Shows for the latest revision in each revision chain (each branched model version can have its own revision chain).

Shows for the latest revision on a revision chain if the model version in the Release state. If both of these conditions exist, only this cue shows in the column.

NameThe name of the model version. Click to open the model version.
TagsThe tags assigned to this derivation or branch.
The icon indicates that an active engineering change is associated with the model version.
Shows the primary image for the model version, if defined. Click to open the Images page, where you can view all images for the model version. See Images Page.
Derivation Type A model version can only have one model version of derivation type revision, and there can be a chain of such revisions. A model version can have many model versions of derivation type Branch.

Possible ValueDescription
BranchThis model version was branched from its parent.
RevisionThis model version was derived from its parent.

Derived FromThe model version from which this model version was either revised or branched. That is, the parent of this model version.
Merged FromThe revisions of the model version that have been merged together to create the model version in the name column.
Derivation Level

The root model version is always the top level for that model version.

For a hardware or service product:

  • Main release
  • Fix release

For a software product:

  • Release
  • Fix pack
  • Hot fix
Marketing NameThe marketing name of the model version.
TypeThe type of model version.
DescriptionThe detailed description of the model version.
Start EffectivityThe date on which the model version's effectivity begins or the date from which the model version is available for configuration sessions.
End EffectivityThe date on which the model version's effectivity ends or the date up to which the model version is available for configuration sessions.
Governing ProjectThe project created in Project Management used to govern the model version. This column is blank if Project Management is not installed.
Current Phase The current milestone, phase or tollgate the project is in, which is the first top-level task that is not in the Complete state. This column is blank if Project Management is not installed.
Phase CompletionThe estimated completion date of the current phase of the governing project. This column is blank if Project Management is not installed.
Design ResponsibilityThe company or business unit that has design responsibility for the model version.
DSFA SelectorThe branch and version qualifier for the model version on the DesignSync server.

ActionDescriptionFor More Information
Create Derivation

Creates a new branch of this model version.

Creating a Model Version Revision or Derivation Branch
Create RevisionRevises the selected model version. You can only revise a model version if no other revisions for that model version exist.Creating a Model Version Revision or Derivation Branch
Insert Before

Inserts a derived model version between the selected model version and its parent. The selected parent can be a revision or a derivation.

Add to Portfolio Adds the selected model versions to an existing portfolio.About Searches
Copy Selected Copies the structure and rules of the selected model version revisions to another model version revision. Copying a Model Version
DeleteDeletes the selected model version; click OK to confirm. You cannot delete a model version if it has any revisions or derivations, or if it is the main model version in the context of a model version. You can delete the main model version from the context of a model.-
Create Defect

Only shows if Defect Management is installed.

Creates a new defect that is reported against the selected model version. Selecting a revision enables this menu item; selecting more than one revision causes an error.

Creating a Defect
Connect to DesignSync Object

Only shows if Defect Management is installed.

Connects the selected model version revisions to a DesignSync object.

Connecting a Revision to a DesignSync Object
Disconnect from DesignSync Object

Only shows if Defect Management is installed.

Disconnects the selected model version revisions from the associated DesignSync object.

-
Add Merged FromAdds another model version revision from which the selected one is merged. Opens a Search window where you can choose the revision.-
Remove Merged FromRemoves a Merged From value from the selected model version revision. If the object is currently merged from only one revision, then this simply removes that one. If there are multiple merged values, a Search window opens where you can choose which revisions to remove. -
Set Branched FromFor a model version that is branched (does not work with revisions), changes the model version that this model version is branched from. You can select any revision that is not a child of the context revision.About Searches
Compare/Align Dispositions Allows you to compare dispositions between two selected model version revisions and, if appropriate, align or copy the disposition of a defect from one model version revision to the other.Aligning or Copying Dispositions Between Model Version Revisions
