Persons and Roles

The system administrator configures the accounts for individual users of Process Composer. Some information (such as passwords and personal data) can be redefined by the end user; some information (such as user names and roles) can be modified only by the administrator.

This page discusses:

Creating Persons (Users)

The administrator must create accounts for each Process Composer end user, referred to as a person. The profile defines the person's login name, initial password, and personal data such as contact information.

Each person must be assigned a role to define which actions the person is allowed to perform in Process Composer.

For details on defining persons, see People in Business Process Services – Common Components. You can customize a person's access privileges.

Assigning Roles

Each Process Composer user must be assigned one or more roles.

Assigning roles is discussed in People.

Process Composer provides several default roles, as described in About Roles in the Process Composer User's Guide. If necessary, you can define additional roles.

About the Installation Administrator User Account

The installer for Process Composer creates a user account (person) with the name SLMInstallerAdmin.

During installation, Process Composer checks to determine if the SLMInstallerAdmin person was created in a previous release of Process Composer. If this person already exists, the existing person is used. If the SLMInstallerAdmin person does not exist, the installer creates it and assigns it the default password of SLMInstallerAdmin.

If you are upgrading from a previous release and you have changed the password from the default, you must set an environment variable before starting the installer for the new version. See Upgrading from a Previous Release.
