About Referenced Content describes referenced content in a simulation process or simulation activity that refers to objects elsewhere in the database. You can create referenced content that refers to ENOVIA business objects, such as an ENOVIA Engineering Central part. Your administrator specifies which types of ENOVIA business objects can be accessed by Process Composer. For more information, see smaSimulationCentral.properties in the Process Composer Administrator's Guide.

If the business objects contain documents, you can use a download rule to export any files in the documents to the local file system. The documents are exported to the working directory, and the simulation activity can then operate on the files while it is executing. In addition, parameters and attributes associated with the ENOVIA business object are exported to an XML file (BOData.xml).

For example, you can add a reference from a simulation activity to a requirement that was created by Traceable Requirements Management, such as a Word document specifying the performance of the simulation under certain load conditions. You can then create a download rule in the simulation activity that exports the document, along with any parameters and attributes associated with the requirement, when the simulation activity executes. For more information, see Working with Requirements in the ENOVIA Traceable Requirements Management User's Guide.

You can export ENOVIA business objects to your local file system, but you cannot use Process Composer to import ENOVIA business objects back into the database. You must use the native application, such as Traceable Requirements Management, to import modified ENOVIA business objects back into the database.
