Requirements and Simulation Processes

To ensure a design matches its specifications, you can define a set of requirements that must be fulfilled by the design.

You can use Traceable Requirements Management to define a set of requirements that must be fulfilled by a design. You can refer to a test case in a requirement from within Process Composer, as described in References to ENOVIA Business Objects. Conversely, you can refer to a simulation process from within a test case in a requirement. You can also refer to a simulation experience from within a test case in a requirement. When the simulation experience is instantiated, the simulation process that is created is referred to by the test case. In both cases, you can execute the simulation process from within the test case.

For example, the requirement could state that the von Mises stress in a region of the model must be less than the yield stress of the material coupled with an appropriate safety factor. The requirement could then refer to a test case that, in turn, refers to a simulation process that calculates the highest stress in the region under a particular loading condition.

Note: You can also refer to, and execute, a simulation process (or a simulation experience that creates a simulation process) from the following:
  • A task in a project created in Project Management. See the Project Management User's Guide for more information.
  • A test method in a product created in Engineering BOM and Product Specification Management. See the Engineering BOM and Product Specification Management User's Guide for more information.
