About the Lifecycle of a Study
  1. From an open the study that you want to clone, click .

For more information, see Opening a Study.

  2. Click Yes to confirm that you want to clone the study.

You cannot reverse cloning a study, confirming creates a new study.

The cloned study opens and is editable. It has the following data:

  • The new study's name has the format [source study name] CLONE [time and date cloned].
  • The new study's identifier is automatically generated with the next available Study Id.
  • Copied materials.

For requested lots in the source study, this copies the manufacture activity and its parameter values, and generates a new Manufacture Lot ID.

This does not copy the requested amount. The Requested Amount value is either zero or it is automatically defined to match the calculated total Required Amount, when the cloned test design is complete. For more information, see Defining Inputs for Manufacturing a Lot.

For requested materials, this copies the material. When you activate either the source study or the cloned study, the CISPro material reference is the same for both studies.

  • Copied storage conditions, including the extra amounts and units.
  • Copied test design, including the amounts and units for the activities.
  • Copied sample reuse and master sample settings.
  • The user who performed the clone is the new study's Owner, but it has no other members.

This does not copy some general information:

  • Starting Date
  • Study Members
  • Lots

The lifecycle state of the new study is always Unapproved. If the source study was Active, Complete, or Finalized, the cloned study does not have corresponding Samples, Tasks, or a Task Plan created in Foundation Hub.

This does not change the study used as the source for the clone. Subsequent edits to the source study do not affect the clone.
