Opening a Study

You can open and view an existing study, whether fully defined and active, complete, or still in planning.

This task shows you how to:

Open a Recent Study

You can use a shortcut to open a study you have recently viewed or edited.

  1. From the Study Design and Tracking home page, locate the study you want to open in the My recent data view.

    Each study has its name, description, and material shown, along with time stamps for its last modification and last access.

    Note: If no study has been created or opened by the user in the last 3 months, the My recent data view is empty.

  2. Click anywhere in the study description.
    The study opens at its Summary tab.
  3. Optional: Click Home to return to the Study Design and Tracking home page.

This opens the existing study, you can review the study. If no one else is currently editing the study, you can make edits.

Open Any Study

You can open a study from a list of all studies to which you have access.

  1. From the Study Design and Tracking home page, locate the study you want to open in the All data view.
  2. Click anywhere in a study description.
    The study opens at its Summary tab.

The existing study opens, you can review the study. If no one else is currently editing the study, you can make edits.

Open a Study from Search Results

You can directly open a study from search results in the Study Design and Tracking app.

  1. From the Study Design and Tracking home page, click Open data.
  2. Optional: For a search result, click and select Preview and check that this is the study you want to open. Click .
  3. Select the study to open and click OK.

Study Design and Tracking opens the study.

Drag a Study from Search Results

You can drag a study from search results into the Study Design and Tracking app.

  1. With the Study Design and Tracking app open or pinned to your dashboard, search for the study of interest.
    The Search Results panel typically opens in a maximized view.
  2. In the Search Results panel top bar, click to minimize the results view.
  3. From the Search Results panel, drag a study into the Study Design and Tracking app.

    Tip: You can only drag one study at a time into the Study Design and Tracking app.

Study Design and Tracking opens the study.

View a Study's Details

You can view the details of the open study.

  1. From the Summary tab of an open study, view other aspects of the study.
  2. Click Lifecycle and Status to review the current maturity of the study.

  3. Click Monitoring to review the status of the tasks being performed for an active study.
  4. If you need to make changes, click .

    If another user is editing the study, the is not available and a tooltip reports more information. You must unlock the study to make edits, see Unlocking a Study.
