Unlocking a Study

If you need to make changes to a study that another user is editing, you can unlock it.


Before you begin: Identify the user already editing the study and contact them if possible, to request that they save their edits to the study.

  1. From the Home Page, open the study that you want to edit.

    For more information, see Opening a Study.

    Tip: The icon in a study lists indicates that another user is editing the study.

  2. Identify the user editing the study.

    • In a list of studies, hover the cursor over to view a tooltip reporting the user editing the study.
    • In an open study, hover the cursor over to view a tooltip reporting the user editing the study.

  3. If possible, contact the user editing the study and ask them to save their changes.
    The study is no longer locked, you can make your edits.
  4. If you cannot contact the user editing the study, click to force the study to unlock.

    Important: Unlocking a study discards any changes made by the other user editing the study.

  5. Confirm that you want to unlock the study, losing modifications made by the other user.

The study is no longer locked and you can make your edits. This discards any unsaved changes made by the user for whom the study was locked.
