Authoring a System Experience

You can create and edit a system experience.

Create a System Experience

You can create a system experience.

  1. In the tree, select the Systems Experience Validation category.
  2. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Create System Experience .
  3. Enter a name.
    The system experience appears in the tree.
  4. In the tree, click the new system experience object .
    The experience is displayed in the work area.

Edit a System Experience

You can edit an existing experience to instantiate models, connect instances, and define properties.

Before you begin: Open an existing system experience.
  1. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Switch Mode to activate the edit mode.
  2. Optional: From the standard section of the action bar, click Show or Hide Model Variables .
  3. To create instances, drag models or scenario documents from the tree into the work area.

    Tip: You can use Create Links to automatically create the connection from the selected instance of scenario.

  4. Optional: To replace a model by one of its revisions in an experience:
    1. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Check Experience and Select Revisions .

      This command verifies if there is another revision (prior or older) for the referenced models.

      The elements with one or more revisions are indicated with an icon. The revision number is displayed in the icon:

      • : On the left, if the revision is older than the current revision.
      • : On the right, if the revision is more recent than the current revision.

    2. For each instance to replace by another revision, select one revision.
    Note: Links can disappear after a revision change, depending on the changes.
  5. Optional: To insert function blocks, click Add Function Block from the Edit section of the action bar, and then select:
    • A family
    • A type
    • The name of the function to be inserted
    Tip: The description of the selected function appears in the dialog box.

    The function block appears in the experience.

  6. To create connections, drag:

    Creates a connection, if the ports have the same or compatible type.

    Creates an external port with the same type and connects ports.

    A hierarchical port

    Another hierarchical port

    Creates a connection, if the hierarchical ports have the same structure with the same or compatible types.

    The work area

    Creates an external hierarchical port with the same structure and ports, and then connects all the ports.

  7. To initialize instances, select an instance, select Properties from the context toolbar, and enter:
    Box Name Description

    Name

    Enter a name.

    Execution Number

    Select the execution number that is the execution rank of the code.

    Partition

    Enter a partition name to assign the instance to this partition. This partition is associated with a dedicated memory.

    Note: Hybrid executions are possible when experiences contain instances either assigned to Windows platforms or Linux platforms.

    Execution Period

    Enter an execution period.

    Note: This option is not available for experience instances.

    Platform

    Select a platform.

    Note: This option is not available for experience instances.

    Execution in cumulative time

    To sequentially execute the sheets, select this check box if not selected. Otherwise, the sheets are executed in parallel.

    By default, this option is selected.

    Note: This option is available only if the instance is a scenario document.

    Show status of elementary tests

    To display messages during the execution in continuous mode, select this check box.

    By default, this option is selected.

    Note: This option is available only if the instance is a scenario document.
  8. To initialize values, select a port and select Properties from the context toolbar.
    1. Optional: For an external port, enter a name.
    2. Depending on the port type:
      • Boolean type: Select Set initial value to True to define the port to 1.
      • Other type: Enter a value.
    3. Optional: Enter a description.
  9. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Save .

Delete a System Experience

You can delete a system experience.

  1. To select the experience to be deleted:
    • Select Systems Experience Validation category in the tree and select a system experience in the work area
    • Select a system experience or a SEVLogicalReference in the tree
  2. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Delete System Experience .
    The experience is removed from the tree.
