Creating Advanced Connections

You can create advanced connections by executing the action rules, set in Data Setup.

Before you begin:
  • Open a structure system containing structural objects (panels, stiffeners, beams).
  • Set Rules catalog or Rules Library that contains the required action rule in Data Setup. The administrator can add required rules to the rules catalog/library. For information about the sample rules, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps Content Reference Guide: Content for Structure Apps.

About Advanced Connections
  1. From the Detail section of the action bar, click Advanced Connection .
The Advanced Connection dialog box appears.
  2. In the Type list, select the name of the chapter.

This list is updated as per the action rules added in the rules catalog or rules library.

  3. In the Rules list, select the required rule.

Here, we select the KDNV rule assigned in the Rules catalog.

  4. In the Geometry tab, select the structural objects.

Depending on the type of action rules, you need to select the structural objects.

Here, we are selecting two stiffeners.

The bitmap image changes as per the selection.
  5. Click OK.
The action rule is executed and the advanced connections are created. Under the AdvConnectionSet node, the advanced connections are created in the tree.
The stiffeners are limited to each other, and an end cut and a slot are created.

Important:
  • The action rule is executed once you click OK. You cannot interrupt the action rule in between.
  • The advanced connections cannot be copied.
  • You can navigate between the advanced connection and its input and output features. To do so, right-click the AdvConnection.x in the tree and select Parents/Children. The Parents and Children dialog box displays the corresponding input and output features. However, you cannot navigate the Parents/Children for the advanced connections created in the previous release.
  • You can update the advanced connections by using the Update Advanced Connection contextual command.
