Initializing a Design Unit

You can initialize a design unit.

Computing a Report
  1. Insert a design unit object in the root product. To do so:
    1. Right-click the product node in the tree and select Insert > Existing 3D Product.
      An information appears stating to select an object or put a query using Search.
    2. In the Search box, type the name of the design unit that you have already created.
      The search results are displayed.
    3. Select the design unit.

    1. Drag and drop an existing design unit under the root product.

    or

    1. Right-click the product node in the tree and select Insert > Extended Product.
      The New Content panel appears.
    2. Expand the Structure category and click Structure Design Unit
    The design unit object is added in the product. A new node for design unit object appears in the tree.
  2. Double-click the Representation.x sub-node of the design unit object in the tree.
  3. From the Geometric Tools section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch and select the xy plane to enter the Sketcher app.
  4. Click Rectangle and sketch a rectangle.

  5. Click Exit App to exit Sketcher.
  6. From the Compass, click Generative Shape Design.
  7. From the Volume section of the action bar, click Volume Extrude .
    The Extruded Volume Definition dialog box appears.
  8. Select the sketch at the profile to be extruded and using the handles extrude the profile.

  9. Click OK when done.
  10. With the Representation.x node activated in the tree, from the Compass, click Structure Functional Design.
  11. From the Operation section of the action bar, click Planning Break .
    The Planning Break Management dialog box appears.
  12. In the Geometry box, select the design unit volume.
    All the structure objects are listed in the area below.
  13. Click OK.
    The design unit object is initialized.
