User Interface: Toolbar

The action bar of Relations provides commands to find paths between a selected start-point object and selected end-point objects, and to customize the relations displayed in the graph.

These commands always appear in the toolbar.


	Home Takes you to the Relations home page. From the home page, you can select objects from the Recents or Favorites tabs and open them in Relations.
	Graph View See Flyout for Viewing Objects.
	Customize Relations Lets you select the relations to show in the view. You can select a saved set of relations or search for a specific one. To manually customize selected relations instead of using the automatic selection of navigated relations, click Customize Relations . To search for a relation type, click Search . To select a set of relations, click Relations Set and select accordingly. To select all relations or to cancel the selection, click Select All .
	Multi Selection See Flyout for Selecting Objects. Note: In datagrid view, you can also click the checkboxes to select the corresponding objects.
	Edit Layout Lets you reorder the nodes within a column using drag-and-drop. Click Edit Layout to modify the position of a node within its column by dragging the node. Notes: This command is available in Graph view only. You cannot move a node from one column to another. You cannot move several nodes at the same time. Use Refresh and Customize commands to keep your customized layout positions. The Print command uses the customized layout positions. Objects that do not meet the customization criteria are removed from the graph. If no objects meet the criteria, only the start point remains in the graph. Customized layouts are not available when the Search command is active.
	Save Favorite Saves the layout as a Favorite that you can later run to dynamically restore the related object navigation. Note: The customized attributes, and therefore the columns in datagrid view are not saved in the favorite. When you open a favorite, the current configuration attributes of the widget are considered.
	Information Lets you view the properties, the 3D view, and the relations of the selected object. The available tabs depend on the type of object you select. For more information about the frequently used tabs, see Properties and Information. For more information about the tabs available for an object type, see the Properties or Information section in the guide of the app that was used to create the object. Note: You cannot edit the properties inside the information pane.

Flyout for Viewing Objects


	Graph View Displays the objects and their relations in a graph view. In graph view, you can navigate relationships in both directions (from the object to its children or its parents).
	Datagrid View Displays the objects and their relations in a table view. In datagrid view, you can navigate relationships only from the object to its children. Each row represents a parent-child relationship. If the same object is used several times in the structure, it is displayed several times in the table. The columns display the attributes of the object (for example, its type or its name). You can select the columns you want to display in the datagrid view. For more information, see Customizing the View.

Flyout for Selecting Objects


	Select All Selects all the objects displayed in the view.
	Select Out Filtered Objects Selects only the objects that are grayed out because of the filtering. Note: This command is available in Graph view only.
	Inverse Selection Selects all the objects that were not selected and cancels the selection of the previously selected objects.
	Selection Assistant Automatically adds parents or children to the objects you select. The following selection options are available: Select Direct Predecessors: Selects the direct parents of the selected nodes. Select All Predecessors: Selects all parents of the selected nodes. Select Direct Successors: Select the direct children of the selected nodes. Select All Successors: Selects all children of the selected nodes. You can activate the Select Common Results option to select the parents or children common to the selected objects, depending on the option you selected. Note: Select at least two nodes before you use the Selection Assistant and activate the Select Common Results option.
	Clear Selection Cancels the selection of selected objects.

Flyout for Options


	Customize Display Options Lets you customize display options. See Flyout for Customizing Display Options.
	Find Paths Computes paths between a selected start-point object and selected end-point objects. For more information, see Navigating Paths. Note: This command is available in Graph view only.
	Fit All Fits the entire Relations graph into the viewer. Note: This command is available in Graph view only.
	Clear View Removes all objects from the widget.
	Refresh Refreshes the content of the widget.
	Print Prints the view.

Flyout for Customizing Display Options


	Display nodes with 2D thumbnails Displays nodes that have 2D thumbnails. Notes: This command is available in Graph view only. By default, 2D thumbnails are displayed. Clear this option to remove the 2D thumbnails and lighten the view when you work on large graphs.
	Show instances Shows the instances of the selected object. Note: This command is available in Graph view only.
	Update layout on-the-fly Reorders the graph to display the impacts more clearly. Note: This command is available in Graph view only.
	Customize Attributes Lets you customize the attributes. For more information, see Customizing the View.

Contextual Commands

These commands appear only in Graph view, when at least one object is selected.


	Hide Objects Hides the selected objects until you expand it again. Note: You can display the hidden object by expanding it again.
	Expand / Collapse For more information, see Flyout for Expanding Objects.

Flyout for Expanding Objects


	Expand Lets you expand the objects as follows: Expand Neighbors: Expands the direct parent and child objects. Expand Predecessors: Expands the parent objects. Expand Successors: Expands the child objects. Expand N Level: Expands parent or child objects, or both. You can select up to five levels.
	Collapse Lets you expand the objects as follows: Collapse Neighbors: Collapses the direct parent and child objects. Collapse Predecessors: Collapses the parent objects. Collapse Successors: Collapses the child objects.
