Upgrading to a Hot Fix (Maintenance Release)

To install a hot fix for the 3DOrchestrate Distribution Server, follow the steps below.

Before you begin: You must have an existing successful installation of a major release of the 3DOrchestrate Distribution Server before installing a hot fix maintenance release. Use the hot fix installer only to upgrade from a major release to a maintenance release, for example from R2018x to R2018x.HF1.
  1. Be sure that all execution jobs have completed and stop the 3DOrchestrate Distribution Server application.
  2. If you obtain the hot fix media in a Windows .zip file or Linux .tar file, extract (unpack) the archive to a temporary directory.

On Windows, you must extract the archive to a scratch directory such as C:\temp\ on a local disk driveā€”do not use a UNC path or a shared directory mounted on a drive letter. This is necessary because of the way in which Administrator rights work on Windows when User Account Control (UAC) is enabled.

  3. Start the hot fix installer.

The installer can be run as a graphical user interface (GUI), as a command-line text user interface (TUI), or silently. For detailed instructions and options, see Launching the Installation.

To start the installer with a graphical user interface, double-click or execute the following file:

    Windows
    <temp_dir>\1\setup.exe
    Linux
    <temp_dir>/1/StartGUI.sh

On Windows, use the right-click Run as administrator option.

  4. Follow the prompts to advance through each panel of the installer.
  5. After the installer finishes, run the 3DOrchestrate deployment utility. See Running the Deployment Utility from the Command Line.
    1. Confirm that the upgrade process loaded the correct deployment parameters file.
    2. Enter the database password on the database settings tab.
    3. Select the Reconfigure Server action. Be sure not to select the database actions Clear all tables or Remove schema.
    4. Click Execute.
