Migrating Model and Scenario Information from the Structural Analysis Workbench

You can migrate model and scenario information from the structural analysis workbench of an earlier release, and then open the converted simulation objects in simulation apps. When you migrate a simulation object to the current release, the migration process automatically converts any material definitions that are used in the simulation. Any material definitions with Elfini domains that are present in the database but are not used by a simulation are not migrated as part of the simulation migration. However, you can migrate those unused materials separately by repeating the process described below using an Object type of Generic Material rather than Simulation. Before you begin:

Your 3DEXPERIENCE platform server installation must be upgraded and the database migrated to R2015x or higher. The migrated database must contain the Structural Analysis simulation to be converted.

You must also have the current 3DEXPERIENCE Physics Simulation simulation client apps installed.

Analysis Case to Step Conversion
  1. Working in any 3DEXPERIENCE app, select Utility from the Tools section of the action bar.
    The Batch Monitor dialog box opens.
  2. Select the V6 CATIA Analysis Migration type and double-click or press [Enter].
    The V6 CATIA Analysis Migration dialog box opens.
  3. Click 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Object Search in the upper right corner.
  4. In the search dialog box, select Simulation as the Object type. Enter any other search criteria such as Title, Name, etc. and click Apply.

    After the search results appear in the V6 CATIA Analysis Migration dialog box, click OK.

  5. In the search results list, remove any simulations you do not want to import by right-clicking and selecting Objects to process > Remove.
  6. From Migrate, select Model and Scenario.
  7. Click Run to perform the batch migration on the remaining simulations in the list.
    The model and scenario data is migrated and appears in the tree.
  8. Optional: Click Open Main HTML Report to view a report describing any errors or issues with the simulation features imported.
