Mesh Generation and Display

Mesh generation is the creation of a finite element model. When you open a model in Linear Structural Validation, the app initializes and generates a finite element model automatically. You can then adjust the model's mesh specifications and regenerate its mesh. Regenerating the mesh is not required; if you skip this step, the app creates the mesh immediately before it runs the simulation.

Generating a mesh before running a simulation allows you to review the mesh and determine if it requires further refinement. However, mesh generation can be time consuming for large or complex models. Skip this step if you do not need to review the mesh's details before running the simulation.

In some cases, a detail in the geometry can cause mesh generation to fail. You can adjust the geometry to render it meshable by following the troubleshooting measures in Troubleshooting: Mesh Generation Failed.

Toggles display or hide the mesh. Hiding the mesh allows you to view details in the geometry. Hiding the mesh can also improve performance if your mesh is complex and you plan to rotate or translate the view of the model.
