Create parameters that define the geometry of a part
-
From the Part Design app, create dimensions, such as sketcher dimensions and the length of an extruded sketch.
-
From the Tools section of the action bar, click Formula .
- From the Formulas dialog box that appears, click New Parameter of Type Length.
- Enter the name of the new parameter and its initial value.
- Click OK to create the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters and to close the dialog box.
Map a new parameter to a sketch dimension
-
From the Part Design app, select a dimension from the sketcher, and select from the menu that appears.
-
From the Formula Editor that appears, select one of the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters that you created.
-
Click OK to map your 3DEXPERIENCE parameter with the dimension and to close the dialog box.
Map a new parameter to a part dimension,
-
From the Tools section of the Part Design action bar, click Formula .
-
From the Formulas dialog box that appears, select the Part Design parameter that defines the geometry, such as the extrusion distance.
-
Click Add Formula.
- From the Formula Editor that appears, select one of the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters that you created.
- Click OK to map your 3DEXPERIENCE parameter with the Part Design parameter and to close the dialog box.
Map Part Design Parameters to 3DEXPERIENCE Activity Parameters
- Double-click 3DEXPERIENCE Utility .
-
From the Select a 3DX Utility menu, select Execute Simulation.
- Configure the execution options, as described in Executing a Simulation.
- Do the following:
- From the 3DX Utility editor, select the Pre-Execute tab, to map to 3DEXPERIENCE parameters representing input to the simulation.
- From the 3DX Utility editor, select the Post-Execute tab, to map to 3DEXPERIENCE parameters representing output from the simulation.
- From the tree view, select the Physical Product object.
- From the list of 3DEXPERIENCE parameters that appears, select the parameters that you wish to expose to Automation Process
Composer.
Automation Process
Composer creates activity parameters with the same name as the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters. - Click Ok to save your changes and to close the 3DX Utility editor.
