Adding Tabs

Add tabs to divide data card sections into tabbed pages, each with its own controls.


Before you begin: From the Card Editor, open a card with two or more areas that would benefit from dividing into two or more tabbed pages.

  1. Click Tab Control or select Edit > Mode > Tab Control.
  2. Touch the card where you want to locate the tab.
  3. From the Tab properties pane, in Caption , enter the title for each tab.

    To move to a tab on the left, click Back ; to move to a tab on the right, click Forward .

  4. To add language translations for the Caption entry:
    1. Click Localization .
    2. Complete the Localization dialog box.
  5. Select from Tab type either:
    • Show tabs to make all tabs visible.
    • Controlled by attribute and select an attribute that either links the visibility of the tabs to another attribute used in another control on the card or to a system attribute, for example, $$description$$.

      Alternatively, you can select an attribute from the Attributes dialog box. The dialog box appears when you click Attributes. It contains a table of the available attributes, their entry types, and default values.

  6. To add a tab, click the + tab.
  7. To delete a tab, from the tab you want to delete click Delete Tab X.
  8. Enlarge the tabbed area to accommodate the controls for each tab.
  9. To fill the tabs do the following until each tab is complete:
    1. Select a tab.
    2. Drag the section of controls that you want to locate on the tab and drop it onto the tab.

    Tip: You can leave some card controls outside the tabs, thereby making these controls always visible regardless of which tab the user selects.

The card includes tabs that are either always visible to the user or visible based on a specified attribute.
