Copy Structure Dialog Box

The Copy Structure dialog box appears, when you select an assembly and click Copy Structure. You can select this command from inside of 3DEXPERIENCE when you select from Windows Explorer an assembly and click Action > Copy Structure. Or, you can right-click the assembly outside of 3DEXPERIENCE and click Copy Structure.

This dialog box has two tabs - Copy and Archive. Use the Copy tab to copy the structure of an assembly into a 3DEXPERIENCE folder. Use the Archive tab to create an archive (zip) file of the assembly structure. The tabs contain controls for:

Destination

The destination varies depending on the tab you select.

Copy tab: Copy
File path of the destination folder where the system copies the files.

You can type the destination folder file path in Copy. Alternatively, click Browse and from the Browse to folder dialog box, locate the folder.

If the Destination Path entered does not exist, the entered folder structure is created in the drive if the drive location exists. If the drive location entered does not exist in the path, an alert appears informing that the path cannot be found.

Archive tab: Archive
File path of the archive file the system is to create.

You can type the file path of the archive file in Archive. Alternatively, click Browse and from the Select Compressed Archive dialog box, locate the archive file and save it.

If the Destination Path entered does not exist, the entered folder structure is created in the drive if the drive location exists. If the drive location entered does not exist in the path, an alert appears informing that the path cannot be found.

The archive location should be outside 3DEXPERIENCE. If the location entered is within 3DEXPERIENCE, an error message appears.

Check-in Files

This section is only available in the Copy tab. It includes:

Check-in file with comment check box
Select this check box to have the system check in the target (copied) files.
Comment area
The text box where you type your check-in comment.

Options Area

This area includes two radio buttons and two check boxes. They are:

Use latest iteration of the reference file
Click this option to use the latest iterations of the assembly and each of the referenced subassemblies, parts, and drawings.
Use referenced iteration of files
Click this option, to use the file iteration referenced in the selected assembly.
Include drawings
Select this check box to include drawings in the selected assembly structure.

Clearing the check box does not affect the copying if you select an assembly drawing as the structure to copy.

The system updates the file list based on whether or not you select the check box.

Name drawings after their models
Select this check box to have the system name drawings with their assembly or part names,

Toolbar

The toolbar includes commands that affect:

  • The file names of the target files.
  • The display of the file listing area of the dialog box.

The toolbar includes:

Add Prefix
Opens the Add Prefix dialog box, where you can specify a prefix string to add to the beginning of file names.
Add Suffix
Opens the Add suffix dialog box, where you can specify a suffix string to add to the end of file names.
Replace
Opens the Replace dialog box, where you can specify a:
  • String to find in file or folder names and paths
  • Replacement string.
Auto-name (Copy tab only)
Initiates auto-numbering of the target (copied) files. The command opens the Autoname dialog box, where you can identify the file types that Connector for SOLIDWORKS is to auto-number.

The system uses the server auto-number series for the target files.

Reset
Clears any changes to the target file names or paths. The command opens the CopyTreeDig dialog box, where you click Yes to confirm the reset.
Navigate all warning types
Displays the list of message types you can navigate. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one type of message.
Next Warning
Selects the next file with a warning. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one file name with a warning.
Previous Warning
Selects the previous file with a warning. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one file name with a warning.
View Mode
Click to select either Details or Content. Details displays the file name list in a several columns, whereas Content displays the same data in fewer columns and includes a thumbnail of each file.
Hide Preview
This command is a toggle that controls the thumbnail display at the bottom of the dialog box. The two states for the command are:
  • Hide Preview - Displays a thumbnail of any file you select from the file list. Click Hide Preview to hide the thumbnail.
  • Show Preview - Hides the thumbnail. Click Show Preview to display the thumbnail.

File List - Details View

The column display depends on your View Mode selection.

These are the some of the columns available in the Details view. You can choose which columns to display.

Name
The assembly and the files referenced by the assembly.
Result

Projected results of a copy structure, The results are OK, a warning, or an error.

Copy
Select the check box to include the file in the copy.

To automatically select all files, select the Copy check box.

Local Iteration
Indicates the file iteration the system is to copy.
Checked Out In
Indicates the check-out file path for each checked out file.
Found In
Folder path containing the file.
Target Name
The name for each file that the system is to copy or archive. The column reflects any action you made in the dialog box including using commands from the toolbar.
State
Life Cycle state of the file, for example, Submit for Approval or No Approval Required.

File List - Content View

These are the standard columns available in the Content view when all the columns display. You can customize the column display and add more information to the Properties column.

File
Displays:
  • A thumbnail of each file.
  • The file name of the assembly and the files referenced by the assembly.
  • Checked Out By - User who has the file checked out, or blank if not checked out.
  • State - Life Cycle state of each file.
Status
Displays:
  • Projected result of a copy structure, which, are OK, a warning, or an error.
  • Local Ver - The iteration of the file that the system is to copy.
  • Copy check box. Select the check box to have the system copy the file. Clear the check box to omit the file from the copy.
Path
Displays:
  • Found in - Folder path of the file.
  • Check out in - File path location of the checked out file.
  • Target path - File name and path for each file that the system is to copy. The file name reflects any changes you have made to the file name in the dialog box and using the tool bar commands.
Properties
This column only displays if you select Properties from the Choose Properties dialog box. It contains the files data for the Properties you select from the Choose Properties dialog box.
