Accessing Workspaces from SOLIDWORKS

You create workspaces using Windows Explorer, although you can open Windows Explorer to a specific workspace from within SOLIDWORKS. You can also access a specific workspace by browsing to it in Windows Explorer.

The left side of the workspace pane contains the folders you have created to contain the documents you add to the database.

The right side of the pane displays:

  • High level properties for the workspace:
    • The workspace image if you added one.
    • The date the workspace was created
    • The workspace life cycle state
    • The owner of the Workspace
    • The associated vault

  • The folders inside the workspace.
  • A Search tab.

You can use this tab to search for files in the database.

If you want to assign a different user as the owner of the workspace, you can search for users and change the owner.

Note: If you change the owner, you can no longer manage the workspace.
