Get Dialog Box

The Get dialog box provides options for retrieving the an iteration or released version of a design.

To access the dialog box, from Windows Explorer, select a file and click Actions > Get Latest Iteration or Action > Get Latest Released. The dialog box also appears when you click Action > Get Iteration and select an iteration.

To access the Get dialog box from SOLIDWORKS, open a file and from the 3DEXPERIENCE CommandManager, click Get Latest Iteration, Get Latest Released, or Get Iteration and select an iteration. In addition, the dialog box appears when you unlock a file in the web client and from the 3DEXPERIENCE Web Checkout3DEXPERIENCE dialog box, click Get a copy of the file.

Explore in WebLets you log in to the web client.

Select FilesOpens the Select Files dialog box, where you can specify a wildcard pattern to select files.

You can then use a single keystroke to check or clear the files in the Get column

Open File ListOpens a list of the files in Microsoft Excel.

Save File ListLets you save the file list as a comma-separated .txt file.

Lets you determine the iteration of the referenced, or subordinate, files the system retrieves. The system displays the default in the toolbar.

Option Description
Referenced Iteration Use this option to retrieve all the objects that are connected to the selected file at the time of check in. This option shows the physically connected structure. The option works within the same revision of all items in the given structure. Therefore, it displays the latest iteration within the selected revision. Check in and modification by all users results in As-Built view.
Referenced Iteration when performing on an older Iteration If the Get operation is initiated from an older iteration of a parent design and you apply "Referenced Iteration" view then, the retrieved structure displays the iteration of child designs that are connected to this iteration of parent design at the time of check-in resulting in As-Saved view.
Latest Iteration Provides the latest revision and iteration to all children objects in the dialog. This option considers the latest of everything outside the selected assembly's revision stream.
Latest released revision Use this option to display the latest released revision and iteration of the selected nodes and its underlying structure. If no released revision is found for a particular node, the system displays the node retrieved by applying the referenced iteration view to the parent node.

Note: When you use the Get Latest Released command from either CommandManager in SOLIDWORKS or from the Action menu in Windows Explorer, the system also retrieves the latest released iteration of the reference files. If you open the list from the toolbar, Latest released revision is the only available option.

View ModeLets you select from the View Mode Details or Content. Details can provide up to nine columns of information, some of which include check boxes for you to select. Content can provide the same information in up to four columns and includes a thumbnail next to each file name.
Hide PreviewLets you toggle between:
  • Hide Preview , which displays a thumbnail of the selected file. Click to hide the thumbnail.
  • Show Preview , which hides the thumbnail of the selected file. Click to show the thumbnail.

File List - Details View

These are the some of the columns available in the Details view. You can choose which columns to display.

Name

Selected files and files referenced by them. For assemblies, the list can include drawings, parts, sub-assemblies, and SOLIDWORKS Simulation files.

Note: The related drawings can be in the current folder or in a folder elsewhere in the database. By default, Connector for SOLIDWORKS checks the entire server for related drawings. The scope of the search depends on administrative settings.

Result

Result of validation, either OK, which indicates that the files are available, a warning, or an error.

GetLets you select files to retrieve. At the top of the column is a check box for selecting simultaneously all files that are not currently in your cache for the selected iteration, or release.

When a check box is inactive but appears selected, the system automatically retrieves the file when retrieving the referencing files (assembly). Your ability to individually select parts and subassemblies when retrieving the referencing assembly depends on your administrator's settings for Global Configuration Object (GCO) attributes.

Local Iter. The first letter/number pair is the local (cached) iteration and the second pair is the iteration on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. Also part of the iteration listing for each file is one of the following:
  • Modified - The local file is modified after retrieval from the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
  • Out of Date - There is a new iteration of the file on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
  • Local File - The file exists on the local disk but is not checked into the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
  • Latest Iteration - The local iteration and the iteration on the 3DEXPERIENCE server match.
  • No Local Copy - The file exists on the 3DEXPERIENCE server but there is no local copy.

For a reference file, the left digit represents the attached iteration (the iteration in the working folder when the parent file was most recently checked in.) The right digit shows the latest iteration of the file. For example, 3/6 means that 3 is the attached iteration and 6 is the latest available iteration on 3DEXPERIENCE server.

IterationFile iteration to retrieve.
Checked Out ByUser who has the file checked out, or blank if not checked out. You can only check in files that you have checked out.
Checked Out InComputer and local folder where the file is checked out, or blank if not checked out.
Found inLocation path of the file.
StateWorkflow state of the file, for example, Submit for Approval or No Approval Required.

File List - Content View

These are the standard columns available in the Content view when all the columns display. You can customize the column display and add more information to the Properties column.

  • State - Life Cycle state of the file
