Getting Latest Iteration

You can use the Get Latest Iteration command to copy from the 3DEXPERIENCE server the latest iteration of a selected file and any subordinate, or reference, files.

Context: When you use Get Latest Iteration, it provides the latest revision and iteration from the assembly selected down. This option considers the latest of everything outside the selected assembly’s revision stream. For more information about the iteration views, see Get Dialog Box.

Get Latest File Iteration in SOLIDWORKS

Opening a design in SOLIDWORKS from the local cache view does not automatically retrieve the latest iteration of the design if an earlier iteration is already present in the local cache. The latest iteration is retrieved if the file has never been copied to the local 3DEXPERIENCE directory.

  1. With a file from the 3DEXPERIENCE local directory opened in SOLIDWORKS, do one of the following:
    • In the CommandManager, click Get Latest Iteration.
    • From the 3DEXPERIENCE tab, click Get Latest Iteration.
    • In the FeatureManager tree, click Get Latest Iteration.
    • In the3DEXPERIENCE task pane:
      1. Click the file you want to retrieve.
      2. From the toolbar, click Get Latest Iteration .

      To open the task pane, click 3DEXPERIENCE .

  2. From the Get dialog box, select the Get check boxes for the files you want to retrieve.

    Tip: To select simultaneously all files not already in your local 3DEXPERIENCE directory, from the Details view, select the Get check box at the top of the Get column.

    When a check box is inactive but appears selected, the system automatically retrieves the file when retrieving the referencing files (assembly). Your ability to individually select parts and subassemblies when retrieving the referencing assembly depends on your administrator's settings for Global Configuration Object (GCO) attributes.

  3. To retrieve reference files other than the latest iteration, from the toolbar in the Referenced Iteration list, choose either:
    • To retrieve reference files built with the selected file, click Referenced iteration.
    • To retrieve reference files with their latest released iteration, click Latest released revision.



    Note: Latest iteration is the default.

  4. Click Get.

Connector for SOLIDWORKS copies the latest iteration of the file from the database to your local working folder (cache), overwriting the iteration in your cache. In the task pane, the Iterations information shows the iteration status in your local cache and on the server.

Get Latest File Iteration in Windows Explorer

You can open the latest iteration of files checked into the 3DEXPERIENCE server and immediately have the system copy it into your local cache.

  1. From the Windows Explorer view of Connector for SOLIDWORKS, select the file.
  2. Click Action > Get Latest Iteration.

    Alternatively, from the file listing area, right-click and click Get Latest Iteration.

  3. From the Get dialog box, select the Get check boxes for the files you want to retrieve.

    Tip: To select simultaneously all files not already in your cache, from the Details view, select the Get check box at the top of the Get column.
