Properties Tab Options

The Properties tab provides the data card for a selected file.

To access the data card for a file,

  • Click the file in the database and click the Properties.
  • Click Display > Properties.

Configuration Tabs

The configuration tabs let you display data for different configurations of the file.

Note: The configuration tab that is active during the Save is the default active tab.



Displays the original (as built) configuration of the file.


Displays the active configuration.


Named tabs let you display specific configurations. This tab is only available when there are multiple configurations to choose from.

Information and Description Tabs

The Information tab (Part Information, Assembly Information, and Drawing Information) displays the metadata stored with the file. If the file is checked out to you, you can edit some of the fields on this tab.

Note: By default, the Information tab always displays first and is always the active tab when initially opening the Properties tab.

The Description tab lets you specify a description for the file that is checked out to you.

Note: Connector for SOLIDWORKS does not allow updates of card property values if the property is defined as linked within its SOLIDWORKS definition. The software ignores any attempt to update the value and retains the current linked value.

Thumbnail Preview

On the right of the tab is the thumbnail preview area.

  • To view the thumbnail for a selected file, click .
  • To hide the thumbnail, click .
