Saving a design to the server is a two-part process. First, you use the SOLIDWORKS File > Save or File > Save As command to save the file in your local 3DEXPERIENCE directory. Then you check the file into the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
Before you begin:
You must rebuild the assembly before you save it to the server.
The workspace and folder must already exist in the local 3DEXPERIENCE directory.
Context: You can save a new design that is open in SOLIDWORKS to a workspace and folder in your local view of the server.
From the SOLIDWORKS toolbar, click File > Save As.
In the Save as dialog box, navigate to an existing folder in the local view of the database.
Note:
If autonumbering has been configured, the File name field is automatically propagated with the next number in the autonumber series.
Click Save.
If the Select Object Type dialog box appears:
From Object Type, select an object type for the file.
Click OK.
You only see the Select Object Type dialog box if:
You administrator has set more than one object type in X-CAD Design Management for the MCADInteg-BusTypeMapping attribute.
The Show file data card when a new file is saved check box is selected in the Options dialog box, which is accessible in the SOLIDWORKS view. To access this dialog box, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Options.
Click 3DEXPERIENCE > Check In.
You can also:
Click Check In in the CommandManager or 3DEXPERIENCE task pane toolbar.
Right-click in the FeatureManager Design Tree and click Check In.
Select one or more files to check in and select other check boxes as needed.
To see a thumbnail of an individual part, assembly, or drawing, select the file name. If the thumbnail fails to display, click Show Preview. Smaller thumbnails are also available for each file name in the Content view mode. To turn on this view mode, from the toolbar click View Mode > Content.
When checking in an assembly for the first time, the system makes the check boxes for reference subassemblies and parts inactive although they appear selected. The inactive check boxes mean the system is automatically checking in the reference files.
For each file you are checking in, select an Object Type or use the default entry.
You can only select the Object Type for a file during the first check-in. The default Object Type is the first type in the list of types in the CGO attribute, MCADInteg-BusTypeMapping. The administrator sets all the Object Type selections in X-CAD Design Management in the MCADInteg-BusTypeMapping attribute. If your administrator only has a single entry in the list of types, you must use the default.
