In Windows Explorer, navigate to the file or files you want to unlink and select them.
Right-click and click Delete.
Important:
Using a right-click and clicking Delete on a single file without a primary relationship (for example, a drawing or PDF file) only gives you the option to unlink the file. To permanently delete such a file, press Shift + Delete.
Select the appropriate option based on the displayed dialog box.
From either Confirm File Unlink or Confirm Multiple File Unlink dialog boxes, click Yes.
Both dialog boxes display if the selected file or files have no references to any other files.
From either the Confirm File Delete or Confirm Multiple File Deletedialog box:
Ensure that Unlink the selected files from the parent folder and workspace is selected.
Under File Name expand all trees to make all file names visible.
Note:
The Result column describes the references.
In the Accept column, select the files to unlink and clear the check boxes for files to remain in their folders.
Click Delete.
Note:
There are no additional prompts to confirm the deletion.
The files are removed from the folder, but remain on the server as global objects. If you need to access the files again, you can search for them using the Search global objects option and establish new links to them.
