Context: This task works both when you are already in the web client and when you open a link from Connector for SOLIDWORKS to a file stored on the server.

  1. From the web client, check out the file.

For information on how to check out a file in web client and to use the web client user interface, see the X-CAD Design Management User's Guide.

  2. If your browser asks you to open a Connector for SOLIDWORKS program, accept or allow the program, and select to always open from the address.
  3. From the 3DEXPERIENCEClient Checkout dialog box, choose one of the following:
    • To open the file in SOLIDWORKS, click Open the file.
    • To get a iteration or the latest iteration of the file, click Get a copy of the file.

This option opens a Get dialog box, where you select the iteration of the file that you want to open. If the file is a global object, for example, not in one of your 3DEXPERIENCE workspaces, the Get option also sends the file to My Work.

    • To check out the file, click Checkout (lock) the file.

This option opens a Check Out dialog box, where you can check out the file.

    You can also:

    • Click Do nothing and cancel the command. This option closes the dialog box and cancels the interaction with Connector for SOLIDWORKS.
    • Select the Do not ask me this again check box. This selection means the dialog box no longer automatically displays. Instead your choice in the dialog box becomes the default whenever you check out a file in the web client. For example, if you select, Get a copy of the file and select the check box, Connector for SOLIDWORKS only opens a Get dialog box whenever you select to check out a file in the web client.

You can reset the automatic display of the dialog box from the SOLIDWORKS view in the Options dialog box:
