Simplified Space Structure: Creating a Simplified Space Structure

You can create a light space structure without creating space root, space folder, and space concept root.

Before you begin: Create or open a physical product.
  1. Activate a physical product and switch to the Space Allocation app.
  2. Right-click the physical product and select Insert > Space System.
The Space System dialog box appears.

You can specify the space system type (Space system with cutting elements, Space system with sketch, or Space system for alignment) in the Space System Options tab. By default, Space system with cutting elements is selected.

  3. In case of the Space system with cutting elements type, create cutting elements. See Creating Cutting Elements.
  4. Create space cells. For more information, see Creating Space Cells.
  5. Publish the space cells. For more information, see Simplified Space Structure: Publishing Space Cells.
The space cells are published and the space references are generated. The space concept nodes are listed in a flat structure.

Whenever there are changes in the space manager, you can synchronize the space references using one of the following commands:

    • The Publish/Synchronize Spaces command available in the context menu of the space manager.
    • The Synchronize Spaces command available on the action bar.
For more information, see Synchronize the Spaces in a Simplified Space Structure.

Note: You can embed a space system under a space concept node. To do so, right-click the space concept node and select Insert > Space System or Existing Space System. During synchronization, if the parent space concept node is removed, all of its children including a space system are also removed.
