Interface Areas - Communities

3DSwym has a few specific communities interface concepts that you should be familiar with.

Specific interface elements are numbered in the images below, and described in the table that follows.

Left PaneWhat's NewRight Pane
Left Pane Lets you access the following:
  • Find Communities.... Filters the communities within the My communities section as you enter your search criteria.
  • Filter on new content only. Filters the list of communities based on those having being recently updated. Whenever some unread content is available the filter icon becomes .
  • Create community. If your administrator has enabled this command, it lets you access either of the following:
    • Send a new community creation request. For more information, see Creating a New Community Request
    • Create a new community. For more information, see Installation and Setup: Administrate: 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: 3DSwym: Managing Communities: Adding a Community
    Note: If you access 3DSwym for the first time, a welcome message is displayed.

    On mobile devices, a Publish Content and a Create community let you either start creating content, and if enabled by your administrator, create your own community

    Select the Thanks I got it check-box to hide the welcome message.

  • Show All. Lets you access the following:
    • My Communities: Displays public communities and those you are member of.
    • Discover Communities Lets you discover private communities.

      To access a private community, click Join at the bottom of the community you want to discover, explain the reason why you are interested in the community and click Send.The owner of the community will be notified and will examine your access request.

  • What's New. Opens the What's New feed. This section is selected by default when you log in to 3DSwym.
  • Favorite Communities. Lets you manage your favorite communities.
    Note: This section is displayed once you have added at least one community as a favorite, or if you already are a member of at least 15 communities.

  • My Communities. Lists the communities you are member of.
What's New feed Displays an updated view of the latest content published or updated within your communities.

If a community is selected in the left pane, displays the content linked to the selected community.

From the upper-right corner of the section, you can select either of the following views:

  • Large View. Displays a detailed view of each content except for messages. For example, an embedded image within a post is displayed without opening the post details.

    New content is displayed at the top of the section. Click Scroll back to top on the bottom-right of the section to navigate to the latest content.

  • Compact View. Displays content more efficciently using less space.
    Note: Messages are not displayed when selecting this view.
  • Timeline View . Displays community content as a chronological feed.

    This view lets you add messages whereas large and compact views do not.

    New content is created at the bottom of the section. Click Scroll back to bottom on the upper-right of the section to navigate to the latest content.

From the upper-right corner of the section, you can sort content by selecting either of the following:

  • Creation Date. Sorts content by creation date.

    If Timeline View is selected, this command is not available.

  • Latest Activity. Sorts newer content first.

Right Pane If in the left pane, you have selected:
  • The What's New, it lets you access the following:
    • My Bookmarks. lets you manage your preferred bookmarks. For more information, see Managing My Bookmarks.
    • My Network Activity. If you have already added some contacts to your network, displays their latest activities. For more information, see Adding Members to your Network
  • A community:
    • Content Filtering Toolbar. Filters content based on the following:
      • Filter on posts. Filters your content by posts.
      • Filter on media. Filters your content by media.
      • Filter on wedos. Filters your content by wedos.
      • Filter on ideas. Filters your content by ideas. Click an idea in the pipeline to display its details.
      • Filter on questions. Filters your content by questions.
      • Filter on wiki pages. Filters your content by wiki.
      • Filter on Surveys. Filters your content by surveys.
  • Community Features
    • Add as favorite. For more, information see Managing Your Favorite Communities.
    • Subscribe to New Content. Sends you a notification when new content is added to the selected community.

      To stop receiving notifications, select Unsubscribe to New Content.

    • My Contributions. . If any, displays your contributions to the community.

      For more information, see Managing My Contributions.

    • Subscribe to RSS feed. Provides an RSS feed link that you can use in the Feed Reader widget or your preferred RSS reader.

      Click Copy link in the Community RSS Feed dialog box to copy the provided link to your clipboard.

    • Share. Shares the selected community.

    • Pin to this tab. - 3DSwym dashboard app only.

      Pins the current community to the current tab.

    • Statistics. Opens the community statitics page.

      For more inform, see Browsing and Exporting Community Statistics.

    • Settings. Lets you access the community settings.
    • Follow Community. The community is added to the My community section in the left pane. Select the communnity to see its News Feed section.
    • Unfollow Community.The community is removed from the My community section in the left pane.You will stop seeing the community updates in the News Feed section but are still a member of the community.

      To follow the community again click Show All in the left pane, and select Follow Community from the context menu of the given community.

  • Community details. Displays a description of the selected community.
  • Members. Displays the list of members of the selected community. Click to access the member's list.
    Note: If you are a community owner, it lets you manage the members of the selected community. For more information, see Managing Community Members.
